The Iowa Department of Natural Resources is asking for the public’s help this summer regarding wild turkeys.
According to the DNR, they need assistance with their annual wild turkey production survey. The organization announces that during July and August, wild turkey sightings are recorded to estimate this year’s nesting rates and nest success. If people happen to see a wild turkey, the DNR is wanting them to write down the date, the county the turkey was seen in, identify if it’s a male or female (males have beards on their breast) and how many poults are present. People are then encouraged to submit their findings on the DNR website. The survey will be open until August 31st. For more information or to report findings, click on the respective link below.
