The Greene County School District recently announced updated information regarding transportation for the upcoming school year.
According to Superintendent Brett Abbotts, a few changes were made to the bus stop locations and four are highlighted in Jefferson. The main bus stops on Westwood Drive and Rushridge Road will now be at Hickory Lane, along with two stops at Head Park and Central Trailer Court. Abbotts further states that there is going to be a dedicated shuttle stop at the Old Middle School that will only go to and from the high school. Abbotts adds that the pre-established daycare stops will continue to take place.
Abbotts states that there are eight stops that will not be in service during the 2025-26 school year and those are noted below. Maps will be provided as the school year gets closer. He says any elementary or middle school students that live over two miles from the school that they attend are eligible for district transportation before and after school, along with any high school student that lives over three miles from the school that they attend are also eligible.
Abbotts appreciates everyone’s feedback and comments about transportation and hopes that these changes will help make a smooth and successful school year.
