A Greenfield man was taken into custody on Monday in Dallas County on multiple felony charges following a traffic stop.
According to court documents, a Dallas County Deputy discovered that after doing a routine registration check of a Chrysler Pacifica that was heading westbound on 310th Trail in Redfield, that the license plates were allegedly for a different vehicle, the deputy performed a traffic stop, when the vehicle pulled into a business parking lot. The report shows that the deputy identified the individual as 33-year-old Gideon Corbett of Greenfield, from previous encounters and knew that Corbett didn’t have a valid driver’s license.
The criminal complaint states that the vehicle also had tinted windows and a K9 Unit searched the vehicle. Court documents show that suspected methamphetamine, along with other drug-related items, and a handgun were recovered from the vehicle as located.
Corbett was placed under arrest and charged with a Class B Felony for a controlled substance violation, two Class D Felonies for control of firearm/offensive weapon by a felony and failure to affix drug tax stamp, a serious misdemeanor for a person ineligible to carry dangerous weapons, and several simple misdemeanors for possession of drug paraphernalia, driving with a suspended license, fraudulent use of registration, failure to provide proof of insurance, dark windows, violation of windshield or window requirements, and operating a non-registered vehicle.
Corbett was booked and is currently being held in the Dallas County Jail. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
