
The individual who died from an officer-involved shooting that happened Saturday night following a pursuit that started in Boone County and ended in Greene County has been identified.
According to the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, a pursuit of a vehicle that started in Boone County with the Boone County Sheriff’s Office and the Boone Police Department, requested assistance from the Greene County Sheriff’s Office at 10:49pm on Saturday, as the chase entered into Greene County. The chase took place on 220th Street and ended on T Avenue, near 220th Street, when officers encountered 18-year-old Camryn Stonehocker of Boone, who exited the vehicle armed with a weapon.
The DCI reports that when Stonehocker advanced onto the officers, and one of the officers fired his weapon, striking Stonehocker, and he later died at the scene. DCI continues that the officers involved were uninjured and are on critical incident leave, as per department policy.
The DCI states that once their investigation is complete, the report will be forwarded to the Greene County Attorney’s Office and the Iowa Attorney General for review. No further details are released at this time. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
