The Mary J Barnett Memorial Library has a new program that they’ve started recently.
Library Director Jerri Hawkins tells Raccoon Valley Radio that with the change from older recording technology to digital, many individuals may have found that they can’t watch, listen or look at old memories, or that those old video or audio tapes and pictures are deteriorating. She explains how the new program helps with that.
“It’s called the Memory Lab, and it’s a collection of equipment that can be used to convert various types of recordings, videos, and images into digital files that can be stored on a USB drive or an SD card. So I would love to have people come in and ask questions about it, or show them how it works.”
Hawkins mentions that this is a free service for people to use. She adds that they can convert Eysen eight millimeter and super eight reels, use Elgato for video conversion, and a Kodak Slide N Scan for converting pictures. The library is in search of a working VCR player and eight millimeter camera for use in the Memory Lab.
