Minor injuries were the result of a car versus semi crash that happened in Greene County Wednesday night.

According to the Greene County Sheriff’s Office, deputies, along Churdan and Jefferson Fire Departments and Greene County Ambulance responded to the scene on I Avenue and 130th Street. The Sheriff’s Office says Carol Hupton of Rockwell City was driving a 2018 Jeep Cherokee and was traveling north on I Avenue behind a 2015 Peterbuilt semi with a grain trailer. Sheriff Jack Williams states that Hupton tried to pass the semi on the right shoulder and struck the front end of the semi as it was turning into a field drive.

Sheriff Williams says there were minor injuries to Hupton and a passenger in the semi, and the driver of the semi was uninjured. The crash report shows $60,000 of damages was done to the semi and the Cherokee was a total loss. Hupton was cited for unsafe passing.
