The leader of the Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Girls Cross Country Team emphasizes the encouragement the runners offer each other.

Head Coach Steve Brown acknowledges that runners are trying to achieve personal best times, but stresses that everyone must work together to win a race. He mentions the girls will run as a group in practice and reassure each other during a workout to help their teammates push through the pain. Brown reveals that junior Lydia Georgick and freshman Clara Uthe are coming on strong at this point in the season.

“Those two are really tightening up the spread. What we call the spread is the gap between your first runner and your fifth runner, that’s where the scoring happens is between the first five runners. And so that’s been getting smaller and smaller because of the improvements of those two, which is really a testament to the work they’re doing.”

Brown adds that all the girls are having fun this year, and are constantly supporting one another, which he notes is fun to see. The Tigers will be running today at the Fort Dodge Invitational as the ladies will get going close to 5:30pm from the Lakeside Municipal Golf Course.
