Freshman Ava Hinote is the only girl from Greene County High School swimming for Carroll High under an athletic sharing agreement. Hinote certainly made a splash in the pool with meets Oct. 7, 9, and 11.

The Tigers swam at Boone on Tuesday with just eight girls, although Coach Deb Danner watched her team set 11 season best performances. The Toreadors won the meet 109-73. Hinote won the 200 yard freestyle race in 2:14.01 and was on the first place 200 yard freestyle relay that was clocked in 1:50.40. She placed second in the 100 freestyle in 1:00.28, and was on the third place 200 medley relay in 2:22.69.

Carroll  hosted Spencer and Fort Dodge Senior High on Thursday and split the dual meet with Spencer topping Carroll 53-41 and Carroll winning vs. Fort Dodge 63-29. In that meet, Hinote won the 200 freestyle in 2:13.33 and was second three times. Runner-up finishes were in the 100 butterfly in 1:12.44 and in two relays. The 200 freestyle was second in 1:49.76 and the 400 free relay swam 4:02.38. Both freestyle relays turned in season best times, according to the coach.

A trip to Johnston on Saturday saw Carroll compete against five of the top seven teams in the state. The Tigers were eighth among 10 teams. Individually, Hinote was 13th in the 200 free in 2:14.30 and 21st in the 500 free in 6:21.00.
