The Adel-DeSoto-Minburn and Perry Speech Teams are sending 24 students to a state competition later this month.
Both schools participated in the Iowa High School Speech Association District Individual Contest on Saturday in Johnston. According to ADM Speech Coach Jacque Seidl, 19 students were awarded Division-I ratings and are moving onto state in 13 categories.
“I thought all of our students performed well and I’m proud of them for stepping outside of their comfort zone. I’m looking forward to students fine-tuning their pieces over the next two weeks to prepare for State at Council Bluffs Thomas Jefferson.”
Perry Speech Coach Ashley Webb tells Raccoon Valley Radio that five students earned Division-I ratings in three different categories. She adds that of those, one one has experience participating in a state contest and the rest are looking forward to experiencing it for the first time this year.
The 24 students between the two schools will now prepare for the state contest that is taking place on Saturday, March 14.
