The AC/GC Chargers girls basketball freshmen played a larger part than freshmen usually do for the team this past season.

Jerzee Huss started two of the 21 games she played in, going 21.2 percent from the field, 19.1 percent from beyond the arch, and 45.5 percent from the charity stripe. She also hauled in 40 rebounds, breaking down to 18 offensive and 22 defensive. Huss recorded 18 assists, 33 steals, and 53 points. She was also given a 0.67 on the value point system (VPS), a statistic used by coaches to evaluate performance beyond scoring, and a way to measure how efficiently a player impacts the game.

Kailee Kautzkey played in 21 of the team’s 22 games, going 36.2 percent from the field, 26.7 percent from behind the three point line, and 57.1 percent from the free throw line. She collected 23 rebounds, breaking down to seven offensive and 16 defensive. Kautzky also tallied 42 assists, 31 steals, one block and scored 62 points. She was given a 1.33 VPS.

Tessa Slaybaugh played in 10 of the team’s games, collecting three rebounds, breaking down to one offensive and two defensive. She also was given a 0.88 VPS.

Trinity Calhoun played in nine games, going one of four from the field. She collected seven rebounds, breaking down to three offensive and four defensive. Calhoun also tallied one steal, and scored two points. She was given a 0.61 VPS.

Carrie Downing played in 10 games, going three of three from the field and two of two from beyond the arch, as well as two of two from the charity stripe. She also hauled in one defensive rebound, and scored 10 points. Downing was given a 1.83 VPS.
