On Tuesday, the Perry Jayettes softball team played host to West Marshall to kick off the week. Perry battled back in the bottom of the fourth, notching in a run to avoid the shut out but fell to the Trojans in the end 20-1.
The Jayettes had three pitchers on the mound, with Kalley Whelchel getting the starting nod for the Jayettes. Whelchel pitched for an inning, before Jaylyn Robb came in to relief pitching for two innings, with Kate Schuttler closing out the game for Perry in the fourth. Karagyn Whelchel was the lone Jayette to come in and score, off an RBI triple from Ayden Erickson in the bottom of the fourth. Karagyn and Erickson notched in both hits for Perry, in the 20-1 loss.
The Jayettes look to bounce back today on the road, traveling to Nevada to face off against the Cubs. First pitch is scheduled for 6pm.
