The West Central Valley Softball and Baseball Teams were in Stuart on Tuesday, welcoming in their neighbors of AC/GC, as Wildcat softball won 17-1, and baseball took care of the Chargers in an exciting walk-off 5-4 victory.

Starting with softball, West Central Valley’s offense was powered in the bottom of the first inning, garnering 15 runs to quickly create separation. The Wildcats would score runs in the second and third innings, as AC/GC nabbed one run in the third inning by freshman Tessa Slaybaugh, but fell 17-1.

West Central Valley saw freshman Mila Orr earn three runs, as Grace Bleckwehl, Paige Bleckwehl, Lily Clausen, Maren Hoffmann, and Addilynn Richter all recorded two runs apiece. The winning pitcher was Grace, going four innings, allowing two runs, one hit, and struck out a batter.

The Chargers drop to 1-5 on the season, as the Wildcats climb to 3-0 overall.

For baseball, West Central Valley would pick up the first run in the bottom of the second inning, but AC/GC would respond with two runs in the top of the fourth, followed by another two in the top of the sixth to take a 4-1 lead. However, the Wildcats would recapture the two runs back in the bottom of the sixth inning to pull within a run, trailing 4-3. 

West Central Valley would tally two runs in the bottom of the seventh, as the game would end on a hit-by-pitch to eighth grader Judah Hammond to score the winning run for the Wildcats, getting it done 5-4.

Scoring the runs for West Central Valley was Colton Lindsay, Trace Vondra, Jaxton Gurney, Caden Lane, and Hyrum Egger. Sophomore pitcher Tryce Dlouhy went four innings, allowed one run off two hits, and struck out seven batters.

The Chargers fall to 3-5 on the year, as the Wildcats improve to 3-5 overall. West Central Valley will hit the road to Truro tomorrow to battle Interstate 35 in doubleheader action.
