A 55 game drought for Greene County High School baseball without a home run came to an end on Friday night. Junior Zack Stalder hit a two-run bomb over the fence to the left of the 345 sign in left centerfield during Greene County’s first round Class 2A District 4 Tournament game in Ogden on Friday vs. South Central Calhoun (Lake City). The Rams won the game 8-5. The long ball was the first in Stalder’s varsity career and put the Rams ahead 5-2 in the second inning of the fourth win of the season for the Rams.

Prior to the son of the head coach of the Rams hitting it out of the park, the last homer by a Greene County varsity player was by Brayden Roberts in 2023 during a 9-4 loss to South Hamilton (Jewell) in Jefferson.

Tomorrow night the Rams play 34-3 Roland-Story in Story City somewhere around 7:30 p.m. Ogden and Interstate 35 (Truro) play at 5 p.m. with the Rams and Norsemen playing approximately 30 minutes after the first game ends.
