Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Baseball Head Coach Shawn Beenken is appreciative of the support he’s been shown by the community during his first year in the position.
Beenken transferred over from the Waukee School District, where he spent 13 years as the varsity assistant baseball coach. However, he has resided in Adel since 2018 with his wife and two daughters.
Beenken points out that the ADM community has embraced him as the new head coach, and that the players are open to learning under his leadership. He shares that he’s attempting to build a winning culture with the incredible amount of talent already in the school district.
“Trying to get these boys to see that they have everything it takes to be one of the top teams in the state. I think it’s very cool that they’ve bought into our culture, and a lot of the things I brought over and tried to establish here. We’ve had a really great time just getting to know each other, and the kids have been super receptive and awesome, and they’re all in, which is the best part.”
ADM is 12-17 overall, as the Tigers gear up to travel to Carroll tonight for a Raccoon River Conference matchup from Merchants Park, starting at 7pm.
