It was a hard fought battle at home on Monday for the Perry Jayettes softball team, as the Greene County Rams had an explosive top of the eighth inning to defeat the Jayettes in extra innings, 18-8.
Kate Schuttler pitched the complete game for Perry, pitching for eight innings allowing only one walk and one strikeout. Schuttler threw plenty of strikes, but the Rams got their bats roaring, totaling 21 hits against Kate for 18 runs.
Schuttler came in to score twice for Perry while Harper Peterson also had a night in the batters box, with two RBIs. Throwing errors were costly for Greene County, with half the Jayettes runs coming from throwing errors on behalf of the Rams.
Now at 4-20, the Jayettes look to wrap up the regular season at home tonight, playing host to the Pella Christian Eagles. First pitch is scheduled for 6pm.
