Those walking into the McCreary Community Building will see a new face behind the front desk. 

Sydney Crnkovich recently started as the Recreation Services Coordinator with the Perry Parks and Recreation Department.

She graduated from Woodward-Granger High School before attending Buena Vista University to study Exercise Science, Physical Education, Coaching, and Health.

Crnkovich spent five years teaching physical education, followed by experience in corrections and dispatch, and most recently worked with the Perry Police Department and City Hall for the past two years. 

She talks about what she is looking forward to in her new role. 

“I taught for 5 years and I kind of missed building rapport with children, but now I get the opportunity to do that with all ages. I think it’s really important to build a community based on a building like this, because we offer so many things. So I’m really excited to dive more into the community and learn a little bit more about everybody that walks in the door and hopefully be able to give them a positive experience to make them want to come back.” 

Crnkovich adds that she is grateful for the opportunity to continue serving her community and is excited to bring her experience, passion for health and wellness and love of working with people to her new role.
