The Mary J Barnett Memorial Library is looking forward to October, and one of the services they provide.

Director Jerri Hawins says that they take part in the Iowa Adventure Pass, which offers library card holders of participating libraries many opportunities for some fun things around the state, mainly in central Iowa. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio that right now, there is a special option available regarding some shows through the Des Moines Performing Arts Center.

“The Des Moines Performing Arts is offering free tickets to the first hundred patrons. And it’s a first come first serve for each show and there is deadlines when the tickets become available and the performance dates. So there’s some National Geographic Speakers series. There’s a dance series. There’s the Wellmark Family series.”

Hawkins mentions that the regular options for the Iowa Adventure Pass are also still available, including tickets to the Blank Park Zoo, Des Moines Science Center, and much more. She adds that the shows at the Des Moines Performing Arts Center begin on October 17th, so it’s important to try and get those tickets sooner rather than later.
