Johanna Diw’s 4 hits powered Perry past Heart of Iowa Conference leader Saydel 7-0 Thursday night near Des Moines.  Diw finished 4 for 5 with a run scored and 2 RBI.  The Perry offense unloaded 15 hits on the night.

The Jayettes struck for 3 runs in the first inning in chasing starter Taylor Tague.  Rachel Kinney knocked in her team high 19th run and Emma Olejniczak followed with a RBI hit as well.   The biggest hit of the night might have occurred in the top of the 5th inning.  Perry loaded the bases with nobody out but Kaylee Polkee was able to retire both Brooke Huntington and Maddie West and had an 0-2 advantage on Maddie Jans.  However, the senior ripped a single back up the middle scoring two and giving Perry a 5-0 lead.  Diw followed with a 2 run double.

Gabbie West earned her first varsity hits filling in for the injured Victoria Hegstrom.  The freshman reached base three times.

Olejniczak tossed her 6th shutout of the season allowing only 3 hits and 1 walk while striking out 6.

Perry improves to 10-8 including a dominating 8-2 against non-conference opponents.  Saydel falls to 13-4 but remains in first place in the Heart of Iowa with a perfect 8-0 mark.

The Jayettes will play four games over the next 2 days at the Roland Story Invitational.  Perry will play Roland Story at 130 today followed by South Hamilton tonight.
