A Perry man faces a felony charge after a toddler ingested methamphetamine.
Perry Police Chief Eric Vaughn tells Raccoon Valley Radio 34 year-old Brandon Lee Lauer was watching a 15 month old child the morning of October 12th. Lauer and the toddler were in a shed in the backyard of a residence at 2110 West 4th Street. Between the hours of 9:30 and 11:30am, Vaughn says the child drank water from a methamphetamine water bong. The child’s mother brought him to Blank Children’s Hospital a few hours later. He tested positive for having meth in his system and was kept in the hospital overnight.
Vaughn says Lauer admitted to law enforcement that the bong was his and setting on a work bench in the shed where the victim was playing with his toys.
Lauer faces a Class D Felony charge of Child Endangerment. He turned himself into the Perry Police Department Thursday. A preliminary hearing is set for Tuesday, December 16th.
