The annual Dallas County Community Coalition will be held this Thursday, followed by the OpportUNITY New Iowans Work Group. The public is invited to attend both events.
The purpose of the Coalition is to increase community awareness of social determinants of health, while also helping to identify resources available to people. Participants typically consist of health care professionals, community service providers, and community members. Immediately following the Coalition meeting, the OpportUNITY New Iowans Work Group will meet. The public is once again invited to attend and learn about the efforts being done to bring individuals and families out of poverty. The group is focused on improving the lives of refugees and immigrants who have settled in Central Iowa, and aims to reduce barriers to self-sufficiency.
The Coalition meeting will run from 9-10:30 a.m., with the OpportUNITY group to follow. Both events will be held at Dallas County Public Health, located at the Human Services Campus north of Adel.
