Among the personnel losses the Adel-Desoto-Minburn Tigers boys cross country team is overcoming this preseason period is recent foreign exchange student Gustavs Klavis. Klavis, a native of Latvia, assisted the ADM boys cross country team in advancing the entire squad to the state meet in Fort Dodge for the first time in 11 years last November. He also played basketball and ran track during his one school year in America. ADM head cross country coach David Zwank has kept in contact with Klavis recently. “He’s gone back to Lativa and is going to pursue running,” Zwank said, “(He’s) asked for some guidance from me on how I can help steer him to get him some performances and some high quality (races) over there. That’s fun and exciting.”
ADM graduated Rylan Heffernan and Micah Moyer from the boys cross country program as well. The 2018 competition season for the ADM cross country teams is Saturday, September 1, taking part in the annual Urbandale Cross Country Invitational.
