Tuesday’s unofficial election results have been released for Guthrie County.
The incumbents won in both contested races for the County Board of Supervisors as Republican Clifford Carney won the District 2 seat with 67.08% over non-party affiliated challenger Rick Kness and Republican Everett Grasty won the District 3 seat with 54.33% over Democrat Kevin Wirt. Republican incumbent Jerome Kuster also reclaimed his District 4 seat unopposed. The County Treasurer, Recorder, and Attorney races were all noncontested.
Republican Ray “Bubba” Sorensen got Guthrie County’s vote for State Representative District 20 with 68.41% over Democrat Warren Varley. Sorensen also defeated Varley in Cass and Adair Counties, winning the seat overall. Sorensen comments on his victory, “I’m just extremely grateful for all the support. I had a great campaign team and a group of volunteers and obviously this is a great district and I’m just very appreciative of all my constituents and their votes.”
In state races Guthrie County voted for Republican incumbent Kim Reynolds as governor with 62.96% over Democrat Fred Hubbell, and on the national stage Republican Congressman David Young won Guthrie County’s vote at 63.31% over Democrat Cindy Axne for District 3.
