The Guthrie County Board of Supervisors met yesterday for the first of their two sessions this week.
The meeting began with a department update from Guthrie County Public Health Administrator Jotham Arber. Arber says he’s working to come up with a strategic business plan in the fiscal year ahead that will allow Public Health to come close to hitting its new monthly budget that will begin on July 1.
Arber says he hopes the strategic plan will also prevent Public Health from having so much tail-end spending at the end of each fiscal year. Monies received through department grants must be spent during a fiscal year, even if not necessary, because Public Health can get less grant allocation if funds aren’t spent. Guthrie County Public Health has spent over $12,000 the past three weeks on various department items in order to funnel through the rest of its grant funds.
The department’s new agency vehicle has not quite been put into use yet. Arber says the pilot project will begin once Public Health receives its agency license plates from the state.
Next, the Supervisors unanimously approved a few different items. A fireworks permit for Guthrie County resident Merri Lee Grow was approved, as was the re-appointment of Dennis Hoover to the county’s Veteran’s Commission Board.
The Board also approved a resolution that waives the county’s right to appeal a final construction permit for the Fett Barn hog confinement.
