ASCA unique race that started earlier this week in Austin, Texas will be going through Greene County tomorrow.

The American Solar Challenge pits various colleges against each other’s original designed solar electric powered vehicles.  23 colleges are participating in the over 1,700-mile trip that started on Monday, July 21st in Austin, Texas and will end on Monday, July 28th in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Part of the trip will come through Greene County on US Highway 30 on Saturday.  Competitors will start their fourth stage of the race from Omaha, Nebraska and will enter the county from Carroll County on US Highway 30 on their way to the end checkpoint at Jack Trice Stadium at Iowa State University’s campus in Ames.  Once there, the teams will continue from Ames and head to La Crosse, Wisconsin for the second half of the fourth stage on Sunday.  The final stage is from La Crosse, Wisconsin to Minneapolis.

One of the teams is from ISU called PrISUm.  They were in third place after the first stage was complete on Tuesday.

Other competitors includes teams from three other countries such as Germany, Canada and Taiwan.
