The Greene County High School track and field squads both have meets scheduled for tomorrow, but at different locations. The girls are in the Jayette Relays in Perry while the boys go to the northeast side of Des Moines to compete at Saydel. The Rams won the girls’ division of the Carroll Coed Relays on Monday night by 78 points while the Greene County boys were third at Carroll.
Girls’ coach Kelly Simpson told Raccoon Valley Radio following Monday’s meet that there are some events the girls have a chance of qualifying for the Drake Relays April 23-25 in Des Moines. The cutoff date for updating performances to qualify for Drake is this Friday the 17th. The 4 x 100 meter relay, shuttle hurdle relay, and Eme Johnson in the 100 meter hurdles had the best chances to make it to the Drake Relays through April 14. Tomorrow will be the last chance the Rams have to improve their performances and move up the qualification list because Thursday’s meet is the last one for Greene County before the April 17 deadline.
