Three local fire departments responded to a structure fire in Stuart early Thursday morning.

The Stuart, Dexter and Menlo fire departments, along with the Guthrie and Adair Sheriff’s Offices, Stuart Rescue and Police Department responded to the blaze at M and G Storage at 1am. According to the Stuart Fire Department, when they arrived on scene, smoke and heavy fire could be seen and then the flames spread quickly due to wind.

Stuart Fire Chief Josh Renslow tells Raccoon Valley Radio once the fire was extinguished, there was a wide range of damage that was done to each of the 26 units that was impacted, but the entire structure he deemed a total loss. He says the fire originated in one of the units, and the cause is undetermined, due to the amount of damage. However, he adds, no one was hurt in the incident and crews had left by 7am.
