The Guthrie Center Elementary school held penny wars and fun days this month to raise money for Relay for Life and they were able to exceed their goal.

A total of $2,472 was raised during the events, with Mrs. Kinkla’s 3rd grade class winning first place with their $260 contribution. The class won a pizza party and will be able to put a pie in the face of a surprise celebrity from the Guthrie Center Elementary school during the relay.

The Guthrie County Relay for Life event takes place at the high school starting at noon on Saturday June 30th and continuing until 7am Sunday.  All community members are invited to join in on the fun and help make a difference in the fight against cancer.  Anyone with questions can call Kim Durst at 641-757-0746.
