Today we celebrate Flag Day, a celebration that started nearly a century ago and celebrates the greatest symbol of our country.
The United States was the first country to celebrate Flag Day 96 years ago when President Woodrow Wilson asked us to “stand with united hearts for an America which no man can corrupt, no influence draw away from its ideals, no force divide against itself”.
All residents are encouraged to proudly display their American flags in celebration of the occasion.
The Perry Elks Lodge will present their annual Flag Day ceremony this evening at 7:30pm at the band shell in Pattee Park. All community members are invited to attend.
