Iowa’s unemployment rate remained unchanged in May, holding steady at 5.1 percent.

The percentage of Dallas County residents without a job also remained steady at 4.2, which is half a percentage point lower than this time last year.

In Greene County, the unemployment rate increased slightly to 5.1 percent in May, compared to 5.8 percent in 2011.

Guthrie County saw the biggest drop, going from 5.8 percent in April to 5.1 percent in May.  However, that’s still four-tenths of a percentage higher than the jobless rate in May of 2011.

The national unemployment rate is currently 8.2 percent.
