The Greene County Board of Supervisors met in regular session Monday.
At the meeting, the board was informed that Michael Pearson has withdrawn his permit application for the Payton site in Dawson Township, a representative of the Aktion Club requested the addition of a concrete pad where they operate their popcorn stand on the courthouse grounds – though no action was taken and two landowners asked questions in regards to recent drainage assessments.
Grand Junction city attorney David Morain addressed the board about the status of completion of the Lincoln Highway interpretive site – noting the 100th anniversary celebration next year, he also asked about the repair schedule for the portion of the old highway that runs through town and gave an update on construction projects in Grand Junction.
The Supervisors also approved mental health services contracts with Mary Greeley Medical Center, Community and Family Resources Center, Mallard View and Plains Area Mental Health Center.
Next the Greene County Farmers and Neighbors group addressed the board and presented a petition signed by nearly 800 individuals requesting that Prestage Farms withdraws a permit application for a 4,900 head hog confinement in Washington Township. The group asked the board to sign their letter to Prestage Farms asking for a withdrawal. The Supervisors did not formally act on the request but agreed to individually sign a letter asking Prestage to consider the group’s request.
The board then approved a resolution that takes $1,118 from the emergency management general fund and placed it in the medical examiner budget, approved ratification of a real estate contract and approved overnight travel for County staff to attend summer conferences.
