The Dallas County Hospital continues to benefit the community by providing more than $1.5 million in uncompensated care.
According to a recent assessment on community benefits, based on 2011 figures, Dallas County Hospital provides $1321,850 in uncompensated care and nearly $200,000 in free or discounted health care services to Dallas County residents.
The community benefits are defined as activities designed to improve health status and increase access to health care, including things such as health screenings, support groups, counseling, immunizations, nutritional services and transportation services.
In 2011, Iowa hospitals provided more than $1.4 billion dollars in community benefits, including nearly $600 million in charity care.
