Greene County High School’s Homecoming this year has the bar set pretty high for itself, despite the fact that is has nothing to compare itself to. This is the first year of the high school, and with multiple schools joining together, some traditions may be integrated or brand new to the students, but Greene County High School Activities Director Dave Waskow says there is a lot to be gained from the merging of the school’s traditions. “There’s always gonna be a transition and there’s always change and its always nice to sometimes change and get some new enthusiasm and new people involved,” remarked Wakow.
Greene County held their parade on Thursday, September 13th, which featured the Raccoon Valley Radio’s “Big Red Radio” playing the school fight song. There was also a jersey auction that raised money for the cheerleading funds as well as the pep rally and coronation. Jennifer Kennedy was crowned this year’s homecoming queen and Daniel Rohner is king.
But Waskow wants people to remember where the focus should be. “I always wanna make sure everybody knows the emphasis is the kids; the game,” Waskow admitted. “The football game is why we have Homecoming and I hope everyone comes out and supports the Greene County Rams because we can always use all the help and support we can get.”
Greene County’s Homecoming game kicks off at 7 PM on Friday, September 14th, with the pre-game getting underway at 6 on 98.9 FM KG98.
