The Bagley City Council held a public meeting Saturday with the expectations of getting the publics’ input on the future of the Bagley Ambulance and to discuss options available to them.

Mayor Don Molle says they had a disappointing turnout.  He was looking forward to seeing more of the younger residents of Bagley at the meeting rather than the 15 in attendance, which consisted of the elderly and EMS personnel from surrounding communities.

Molle says Bagley currently has a fairly new, non-transport vehicle that has 7,500 miles on it.  They have plenty of drivers, but need trained personnel to assist patients in the back.  He understands recruiting and training will be difficult as the younger residents work out of town during the day.

One of the options discussed was selling the ambulance.  Molle says he’s pretty sure there are communities out there that could use this vehicle more than they do.  He doesn’t want to see this happen, he’d rather recruit younger residents than sell the ambulance.  They’d hate to get rid of it, but need to face the fact that it probably won’t get utilized.

The ambulance will be discussed again at the October 1 City Council meeting.  In the meantime, Molle added, Bagley will continue to utilize the Panora EMS.
