Greene County finished fifth among eight boys’ teams and seventh among nine girls’ teams at the 2012 Heart of Iowa Activities Conference coed cross-country meet on Oct. 8. The event was held in Ames on the Iowa State University course.
Gilbert won the girls’ team title. The Tigers scored 48 points to take the crown with South Hamilton (Jewell) a distant second with 80. CMB (Maxwell) had 92 points with North Polk (Alleman) at 95, Roland-Story (Story City) 97, Nevada 102, Greene County 158, Saydel (Des Moines) 241, and Colfax-Mingo 254.
On the boys’ side, NP won with 27 points and Gilbert was second with 47. Nevada scored 125 with R-S at 136, Greene County 137, SH 145, Saydel 186, and CMB 192.
The individual winners were Sybbie Sears of NP for the girls in 15:59.58 for four kilometers (2.48 miles) and Thomas Pollard of Gilbert for the boys in 16:50.82 for five kilometers (3.1 miles) on the boys’ side.
