Time is running out to apply for the 2013-2014 Savings Incentive Program through Practical Farmers of Iowa.
The program’s goal is to support the next generation of Iowa farmers by providing matched savings. All farms are welcome to apply, regardless of size, production methods and marketing practices.
Practical Farmers of Iowa will choose up to 25 beginning farmers who will be paired up with a personal farm mentor that offers business planning guidance, targeted learning opportunities and shares ways to save money on the farm.
Enrollees are encouraged to save up to $100 per month for two years. After 24 months, if all program requirements are met, Practical Farmers of Iowa will match their savings up to $2,400.
Applicants must be current farmers who have done so for five years or less, live or farm in Iowa and become a member of Practical Farmers of Iowa.
To apply, visit PracticalFarmers.org or call Marc Strobbe at 232-5661.
