High school fall sports regular seasons are winding up and the postseason is drawing near. The two high school volleyball programs in Greene County, the Greene County Rams and Paton-Churdan Rockets, both end regular season play this week. P-C plays tonight (Thurs.) in Elk Horn at the Rolling Hills Activities Conference tournament to finish its regular season. Greene County plays on Oct. 13 at the Johnston tournament to end the regular season. The tournament at Johnston primarily features Class 5A teams. The Rams open Class 3A volleyball regional play on Oct. 22 in Lake View vs. ninth rated East Sac County. The Rockets open 1A regional action on Oct. 16 in Burnside vs. Southeast Webster-Grand.

Cross-country regular seasons are nearly over as well. Greene County runs today (Thurs.) at State Center in the West Marshall Invitational to end the regular season. Paton-Churdan has already concluded its regular season. All cross-country state qualifying meets are scheduled for Thurs., Oct. 18. Greene County is in a 2A meet hosted at Lake Panorama by Panorama HS while P-C goes to Holstein for a 1A meet hosted by Ridge View.

The Greene County Rams have just two regular season football games remaining. After traveling to Clarinda Academy on Oct. 12, the Rams will end the regular season at home in Jefferson on Oct. 19 vs. OA-BCIG (Ida Grove) on Oct. 19. The first round of playoff games is on Wed., Oct. 24.
