Today, the Iowa Department of Natural Resources is holding a series of meetings across the state to ask Iowans what they want from their state park system and from their local park in particular.
Harlan will host one of these meetings at 6:30 P.M. at the First Baptist Church located at 1325 Chatburn Avenue. Atlantic will also host a meeting at 6:30 P.M. at the Atlantic Chamber of Commerce Rock Island Meeting Room located at 102 Chestnut Street. Both meetings are scheduled to end by 8:30 P.M. and the public is invited to attend.
Information will be gathered in an effort to develop a new 5-year outdoor recreation plan for Iowa. The draft plan will be available for public comment in December before it is submitted to the National Park Services and will serve as a guide for future projects developed by the Iowa DNR.
