Dexter and Menlo residents are encouraged to voice their opinions on the future of their local post offices tonight.

The Postal Service has established a review process for post offices located throughout the nation known as the POST plan.  The Dexter and Menlo post offices were among those evaluated under the plan criteria.  Residents of both towns recently received surveys requesting their input to help determine the best course of action for providing postal services to each community.

One of the options the patrons have the choice of would be to keep the offices open, but realign window service hours based on actual workloads.  If the survey shows that less than 60% of the patrons do not wish to utilize this option the USPS will conduct three discontinuance studies with different outcomes based on those results.

Meetings with post office officials will be held this evening to answer questions and provide additional information on the process and future plans.  The Menlo meeting takes place at 6pm and Dexter residents should plan to meet at 7pm.
