Avoiding long lines, inclement weather or unexpected delays, trips or injuries are all reasons that politicians and government officials are encouraging voters to get out and vote early in 2012, and the people are taking those suggestions for their value.  Experts are projecting that the 2012 election will have more absentee votes than any other election in the history of the nation and Iowa is expected to meet or exceed the 481,179 early votes that were cast in 2008 in the last Presidential election.

In the Raccoon Valley Radio region Dallas County has reported sending out over 15,000 absentee ballots already and has received 60% of them back so far, approximately 9,000 votes already cast.  Greene County has mailed out approximately 1,500 absentee ballots out though the Greene County Auditor’s Office did not have results available for the number that have been returned.  And Guthrie County reports that as of Thursday, October 25th, 1,942 absentee ballots have been requested with 1,440 returned thus far.

Don’t forget that the second satellite voting opportunity in Perry will be Saturday, October 27th, from 9 AM to 3 PM at the McCreary Community Center in Perry and you can also vote early in your county’s auditor’s office during regular business hours as well Saturday, October 27th, and the following Saturday, November 3rd.
