The Perry Bluejay basketball team opened up practice this past Monday to the tune of 45 kids out for the sport freshmen through senior level.  Perry Head Coach Ned Menke was not surprised at the high number.  “We had 45 young men step through the doors on opening night and a very high number of freshmen and sophomores which is really exciting.  I always enjoy having the younger set join the program as it gives us time to work with them all 4 years rather than a senior come out for the first time and then exit the program after one year.  We will have a good mix this season.”

Menke credits his middle school program for creating a lot of the basketball excitment.

“I have to give credit where credit is due and our 7th and 8th grade coaches are doing a terrific job.  Sean Brix and Cody Eichmeyer do a fabulous job working with the kids and keeping it exciting for them.  They have 29 kids alone this year on the 7th grade program”

Perry handed out 6 more varsity uniforms Wednesday night.  Jacob Clark, Atem Akook, Zach Roberts, Levi Halling, Drew Nichols and Nic Wilhelmi all were presented the uniforms after practice.
