It’s another busy week for the Big Red Radio as the Caring Christmas Food Drive continues.

Raccoon Valley Radio General Manager John McGee explains where the idea came from and what the purpose of the food drive is.

“It’s something the company has done in our other properties for, going on 10 years now.  It’s something that really Mel Suhr, the owner of the station decided it was important to find ways to give back to the community to find out.  So we have found that through the use of radio, through the power of our medium, we can partner with area businesses to raise food to help those in need this holiday season” says McGee.

And all food donated, stays in its local community.

“We are serving six different food shelves, the Greene County food shelf, the Perry food shelf, Adel food shelf, Panora, Guthrie Center and Stuart” adds McGee.

Wednesday you’ll find us at the Hometown Foods in Panora from 3-5pm.  Thursday you can join the Big Red Radio at the Perry Hy-Vee with the Dallas County Hospital from 4-6pm.  Friday there’s a double dose of food drive collection remotes with the first visit at New Homestead in Guthrie Center from 11am-1pm, followed by an event with Adel TV and Appliance at the Adel Fareway. And then on Saturday you can visit the Big Red Radio at Morrison Chevrolet in Stuart from 10am to noon.

If you’re in the area, we encourage you to stop by and donate whatever you can afford to give.
