The Greene County Extension will host re-shows for commercial pesticide applicators next week.

The re-shows are certified through the Iowa Department of Agriculture and are for those who didn’t attend the original trainings earlier in the year.  The trainings are required every year by the State of Iowa in order to maintain applying pesticides commercially.

There are 11 categories for continuing instructional courses for recertification and all will be offered at the extension office next week.  Greene County Extension Coordinator Michael Cooley says that there’s one category that draws a lot of participates during the re-show sessions for Greene County.

“By far the most popular is our Commercial Ag, Weed and Insect Pest Management, as well as Plant and Disease Management.  And those are commercial applicators, that’s 1A, 1B and 1C.”

Cooley points out that if someone needs to be recertified in any of the categories, not just one specific category, you can either apply to take the Certified Crop Advisors or Category 10 which is Demonstration and Research.  He says that these two re-shows are designed to cover any and all categories for pesticide applications.

There is a $35 fee for each session and pre-registration is required.  The deadline to register is 4:30pm the day before the course.  Contact the Greene County Extension Office at 515-386-2138 to sign up.
