Saydel High School on the northeast side of Des Moines is the site of the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference wrestling tournament and the Greene County Rams will be trying to win the title for a second straight season. The Rams have several wrestlers with outstanding seasons in progress including two who are ranked on a statewide basis by The Predicament wrestling magazine. Junior Dylan Forkner is 19-1 at 126 lbs. and he’s ranked sixth in Class 2A. Forkner has just one match under his belt this month due to injury and illness. Sophomore Jordan Challen is rated tenth at 132 lbs. He has a 25-5 record. Other top records for the Rams include senior Aaron Beaman, who is 27-2 at 220, junior Jeremy Scheuermann, 26-3 at 145, sophomore Abe Yoder, 24-7 at 120, freshman Daric Whipple, 23-5 at 138, and junior Jake Challen, 19-5 at 113.

Coach Mark Sawhill’s team won both the dual meet and tournament titles a season ago and the Rams are 6-0 so far this season in conference dual meets. The Rams will finish the dual meet season on Jan. 24 in Monroe vs. PCM, South Hamilton (Jewell), and North Polk (Alleman).

Action begins at 10 a.m. at Saydel on three mats.
