Bell Tower Festival continues to make progress at last night’s meeting.
Main items discussed were the wine tasting and beverage garden. Wine Tasting Chair Alica Sloan presented the possibility of wine coozes in addition to other goodies in the wine tasting tent. She asked for an increase in the food budget due to concerns from people last year saying there wasn’t enough food. The beverage garden received new information last night. It is confirmed that the beverage garden will host the band from Larry’s Restaurant and Lounge and the Bell Tower Festival will pay for the alcohol during the performance. The permit has been cleared since there will be an entrance on the north side of the gate for the band and supplies to go in and out of.
Bell Tower Festival Chair Pete Russell says they are grateful that Larry’s Restaurant and Lounge wants to use their facilities since they already had their band booked before the end of the festival last year.
“I think it is awesome that they came to us. We were hoping to work together as a whole committee. It’s really sad for our community to lose such a icon of a place of food and beverage but I’m glad we’re able to accommodate their needs.”
There were several other items for consideration. One band is booked for the plaza stage entertainment with the local band “The Counter Tops”. Other bands discussed were “The Nadas” and “Secret Weapon”. There will be a firemen’s breakfast that Saturday morning along other events like the motorcycle show, poker run, 3-on-3 basketball tournament, mud volleyball and History Boy Theatre will have its summer show.
One change is the art show will not longer be in the basement of the Sierra Theatre. It will now be in the Historical Museum.
Volunteers are always needed and the public may come to the next meeting on Monday night, February 4th at 5:30pm at the Jefferson City Hall Council Chambers.
