Budget season is in full swing for many levels of government, including the City of Perry.

The City Council will hold their first work session this afternoon to get an update and discuss proposed expenses.  Finance officer Susie Moorhead, City Administrator Butch Niebuhr, Mayor Jay Pattee and the council are all expected to participate in the discussions.  Department heads will also be submitting their proposed fiscal year budget worksheets.

Moorhead says the goal of the first meeting is to compare requested expenditures with estimated revenue and consider proposed capital expenditure projects.

Though the next fiscal year doesn’t start until July 1st, Niebuhr says they don’t have that much time to get everything worked out because budgets are due to the state on March 15th.

Today’s meeting takes place at 3:30pm in the Clarion Room of the Security Bank Building.
