The 6th ranked Perry Jayette basketball team will travel to Madison County tonight for a 6:00 tip with 14th ranked Winterset. The Jayettes defeated Winterset 52-44 in the first meeting despite going 5-19 from the foul line. Perry sophomore outdueled young star Mariah Chriswell outscoring the young Huskey 28-9. Perry will look to find some type of offensive rhythm tonight after a sluggish showing this past weekend scoring only 46 and 39 points in Friday and Saturday games.

“Right now, I would say we still can play better defense. Our communication hasn’t been the greatest and some times were not physical enough. I also feel that we can rebound better. Offensively is where we still have lots of room to improve. I don’t think that we are setting hard enough screens at times. We need to be tougher. Our shot selection hasn’t been the greatest either and I catch myself yelling at the girls about certain shots that they are taking.”
That’s Perry Head Coach Mike Long who is currently at 496 career wins with 4 regular season games left. If Perry can run the table against Winterset, ADM, and Bondurant Farrar, next Friday’s showdown with Knoxville could give the veteran coach a chance to hit the milestone at home. You can listen to tonight’s game on KDLS with Shawn Kenney beginning at 5:45 with the Perry HyVee pregame show.
