The Jefferson City Council met in regular session last night.

Chamber Executive Director Ken Paxton updated the council about getting a business class restaurant to the county.  He says that he got approval from Jefferson-Scranton School District and will have Ram Restaurant help staff it.  He comments he now needs to find management and ownership.  He briefly updated the council on the customized college welding program in conjunction with Jefferson-Scranton School District and Iowa Central Community College to begin classes this summer.

Business items that the council approved was a $2,000 grant reimbursement from the Neighborhood Incentive Program for the demolition of 300 East Head Street, paying $41,967.89 to Sandstone Management for a construction project for Greene County Development Corporation Business Park #1, accepting a proposal from Tri-County to demolish and rebuild the property at 500 South Maple Street and the resolution of the financial proposal for Cobblestone Hotels Group.

Three new volunteer firemen were approved by the council.  Brett Kersey has one year experience from Grand Junction Fire Department, Mark Garreans, has 10 years experience with Adair Fire Department and worked last year with the Grand Junction Fire Department and Chris Massey has Marine training.

One other update was from City Administrator Mike Palmer.  He says that requests for proposals for the Raccoon Valley Golf Course are out and he has received some interest.  The deadline for requests is February 19th.
