The majority of the Raccoon River Valley continues to suffer from severe drought conditions, according to the National Climatic Data Center, though the northwest and north central portion of the state – including northern Greene County is still experiencing an extreme drought.

Halfway through the month of February, Perry has received just seven one-hundredths of an inch of precipitation so far.  Jefferson has had 16 one-hundredths and 11 one-hundredths of an inch have fallen on Guthrie Center.  All three towns typically get around one inch of precipitation total during the month of February.
