Greene County Extension will be hosting a five-week course through Annie’s Project in Jefferson starting this week.

Annie’s Project is an agricultural risk management education program for women.  The newest program is called “Managing for Today and Tomorrow” to help women better understand farm business, estate, retirement and succession of farmland planning.  ISU Extension Value Added Agricultural Program Specialist and Co-Director of Annie’s Project Madeline Schultz says that the program gives women the opportunity in helping farm transitions from one generation to the next.

Greene County Extension Coordinator Michael Cooley says one unique thing about the five-week course is that all the presenters are women.

“So we have some great ISU program specialists, they are going to talk to the participants.  Then we are also bringing in some local experts, a lawyer, a bank finance specialist-specifically an ag finance officer-and finally a local female insurance agent.”

Pre-registration is required along with a $75 fee which includes a 300-page workbook, hands-on activities and refreshments.  The deadline to sign up is tomorrow at 4:30pm and classes begin this Thursday from 6-9pm at the extension office.  The workshops will be every Thursday through March 21st.  Call Cooley at the extension office at 386-2138.
