The Guthrie County Local Emergency Planning Committee will be hosting a conference the morning of March 9 at the Stuart Cultural Center, 324 N. Fremont Street. Registration starts at 7:30 A.M. with the first class beginning at 8:00 A.M. and targeted audience members include Nursing, Fire, EMS, Law Enforcement and 911 Communications staff.
Topics covered include Trauma in Pregnancy led by Iowa Health RN Karen Jones, Changing Environment of the Fire Service led by Iowa State Fire Marshal Ray Reynolds, Tourniquet Use presented by Iowa Methodist Medical Center’s Dr. JD Welander and Active Shooter Concepts including the newly implemented A.L.I.C.E program led by Stuart Police Chief David Reha and Sgt. Michael Algreen.
Stuart Rescue Unit Paramedic Specialist Jeff Howard says those attending will receive free CEH hours provided by South Western Community College. Participants need not pre-register to attend, just show up Howard added. Snacks and drinks will be provided.
